Proceed With Caution: She May Appear Sweet Par Ladki Bomb Hai

A guy messaged me.

I don't judge people. I talk to them politely. So very-very politely but not-so-humbly I replied this.

"Hey G****t,

First, see how I started by mentioning your name - it adds a personal touch and assures the reader the message is not a copy-paste.

Second, you don’t follow me or have interacted with me ever. When you will actually like a girl, invest your time in her. It’s very gentlemanly to do that. In millennial lingo, it’s about making a smooth entry.

Third, I truly appreciate your wordplay in the second paragraph. It has a personal touch. I presume from your bio that you are studying law, I’d suggest purely as someone who has studied law and is also a writer, use this skill to be a good lawyer.

Fourth, if this is a case of copy-paste to many girls, my message may hurt your ego or you would smirk at the fact that I replied back. Know I use every single piece of my writing to get a job. This would also help. So thank you.

Lastly, if you are genuinely interested in me and admire me the way you have written in the message, you will be proud of your choice. Humility aside, I do reply well. As a budding lawyer, I hope you will give me points for eloquence.

Saru
Yeah, that’s my name."

Why did I reply?

I understand many may not find the message bad, but his reply showed that he was lying. I don't like it when people hide behind the veil of anonymity or private account and write whatever they want to. I don't like this smug attitude where someone feels entitled. Respect and manners are outdated. Bad behaviour is the new equivalent to coolness. I don't know about others, I will not accept all these things on my social media accounts.

To anyone who intends to cross a line with me, don't do it. I will respectfully bury you with manners, logic and sarcasm.

P. S. I'm a bundle of contradictions, I will also complain, 'Why nobody hits on me?' Upar dekh ladki kya kaand kiya hai.

Comments

  1. These kind of messages really piss me off! I can totally relate with your angst. However the last line is really hilarious!

Being Human

Under the roof of winter, Latches of my door open without making a sound. It's cold out there, Someone lost his ground. My soul shivers, Not that I'm cold. Someone from my land, Sleeps under the bridge while dreaming of gold. How can I... tuck myself in the quilt? When the winter storm is blowing, Hopes they have built. I have to get up, Do something... Before I start questioning who am I? And, they start saying...'Humanity dies.' Let's work out something, Take a resolution. Walk across all kinds of bridges, And, just be human... From centuries people are migrating for work or for better opportunities. But, not everyone has a smooth sailing...some live under miserable conditions. Most heart wrenching fact is nobody helps them, not even people from their own countries. I know, everybody is busy chasing the bigger purpose of life. But don't you think we should help people in need? Let's try to be better human being...

I Am Not Alone

Last year blessed me, He walked silently into my life. It was Love, That took me in its stride. One evening we walked holding hands, Then, I told him what I felt in heart. He said we were one soul, Who were living in parts. To bring the parts together, We fought with the world and tied the knot. Being one soul, Gave life a whole new spot. Chirping birds, floating clouds, Nature conspired for us. Always swimming against the tide, Life was in an adrenaline rush. This year cursed me, He walked silently out of my life. It was Death, That took him in its stride.       Yesterday his soul was saying, Fearing memories will fade, he can’t move on. He will stay and admire me, Standing always by my side from dusk to dawn. Rewind - September 2023

I wrote the following in September. Sometimes, I feel I will forget the art of writing couplets because I am not writing at all this year. I strongly believe you have to practice to hone your craft. And I am not doing that. Perhaps I schedule a time to write a poem. Or I need better time management skills.
