Say Hello To 2016 From A Galaxy Far Far Away

Image
I love throwing parties. There is a different high in being the center of attraction and gathering praises. Mind you, it’s not a cakewalk. A lot of planning and preparation goes into it. There is food, drinks, sitting arrangements, decoration and entertainment that needs to be taken care of. But it all starts with a theme. Well, this year we are soaked in action with Star Wars latest flick. So, I thought of hosting a party on Star Wars Theme. I graciously borrowed ideas from HP Star Wars Special Edition Laptop to plan the finer details. It should arouse everyone’s interest so that they RSVP instantly. Using Aurebesh font that comes preloaded in Star Wars Special Edition Laptop, I would design the invitation. Front side in Aurebesh and back side in English t

4 Apps That Make My Life Easy

Image
What’s a smartphone without apps? It’s no better than a landline, right! I can’t imagine my smartphone without a few of the apps, which make my life easy and fun. First thing I do every morning is to check these apps. Yes, that’s how I begin my day. These apps are my way to connect with the world on my tiny gadget. I keep myself abreast of all around the globe, communicate and prepare myself for the day using these apps. Gmail - I work online and to get instant notifications from clients, this app comes in handy. I have enabled push notifications and hence, I never miss a mail. It helps me to be in touch with my work… sometimes also with friends, as I don’t use Facebook app on my phone. So, if anyone wants to ping me on urgent basis, they use gmail. Plus, on android phone, I can download drive, blogspot and calendar, and sync my work and personal life on my mobile. The Weather App - I am addicted to it. I love checking weather every now and then. Before stepping out of the ho

Piya wahi jo sab kuch khaye aur nakhre na dikhaye

As a child when anyone asked what I wanted to be, I was very clear and focused. I wanted to be a doctor and a wife. To be very precise - I wanted to be a ‘good looking’ doctor and the ‘most beautiful’ wife, jaisi movies mein hoti hain - tip top! Two exemplary ladies were my source of inspiration - Rekha Ji and Madhuri Dixit. Honestly, I connected with Madhuri more. After watching that scene from ‘ Hum Aapke Hain Kaun ,’ where Madhuri all dressed up in pink satin dress, serves God-only-knows-how-many-dishes to Salman Khan, I knew for sure I wanted to be a wife. I imagined cooking in neatly tucked sari, serving my husband spoonfuls of halwa between oodles of love and seductive glances. ‘ Yeh tumne apne hathon se banaya hai’ - was my second favorite sentence. First being - hamari beti sarvagunn sampann hai! I started my ‘Wife-Training’ rigorously. I cooked, I baked, I burnt and in between all that, borrowed my mom’s maroon saree for practice. The low point of this

#SupportMySchool - Rebuilding and Reviving 1000 Schools

It is a school where we get our first lessons of life. School imbibes not only the textbook knowledge, but also acts as a foundation that helps us build a strong personality. I’ve picked up a lot of good habits from school - washing hands before eating was mandatory is my prep school, and till junior school I learned many such habits. Sadly, not everyone is as lucky as I was. I went to a good public school. A large population of our country goes to Government schools where the facilities are in a deplorable state. Forget about a good toilet facility, many don’t have proper classrooms with desks or benches, all of these have resulted in high dropout rates in the past. Have a look at these statistics about government schools in our nation's capital - We all know the importance of education to build a nation. A close look at our school system and reasons for high absenteeism raised many issues - top being lack of infrastructure. There are no benches in the classroom, drinking
