She walks in beauty

Never,
Never before,
I cursed the silting sand.
It kissed my naked torso,
I even passed it through my hand.
Sun shined above,
Sea sang a perfect song.
Those shapeless beads argued,
Asked what went wrong?
Flawless, petite,
Anklet dangled in perfect rhyme.
She walked in beauty,
Smelt lemon in summertime.
Breathless... I chased her,
Mindlessly on that beach.
And I cursed daring sand,
For kissing her beautiful feet.

Later, I tucked this note on her windshield ~

Aapke paon dekhe, bahut haseen hai.
Inhe zameen par mat utariyega, maile ho jayenge...

  3. You know this brings out so many beautiful memories...and I feel like sharing. This boy...junior to me...well he could not say it in words as others could but I still remember his innocent words which made me feel beautiful for the very first time. And he said"...the pink around the edges of ur feet I just love to see it all the time...looks like you had applied altar and it got washed away." Of course he said many things which I laughed away just because he was a junior and that's how our mind is conditioned. But I wish I could've reciprocated...I wish I wish. of course Pakeeza and Kamal Amrohi...the words...I used it too much later to make a parody when I had to become Anarkali and someone had to say just one dialogue impromptu. Look what ur poetry does to me Saru...I go down so many memory lanes. Definitely u can sense how I can identify what made u compose these...when u did. True some feet really look very beautiful...just like how Rajkumar in the movie said but in reality it could be that people with beautiful feet may not really be beautiful at all. I mean of that which is skin deep. I know of such a lady who owns a beautiful feet but I'd rather stay away from her than to even look at her what to talk of chasing her. Thanks for sharing this. Enjoyed it. Have a lovely Tuesday. Jai Hanuman Jai Sri Ram :)

    1. It says - I saw your feet, they are very beautiful. Don't put them on ground, it will get dirty. It's one of the most popular dialogue of Bollywood.

  14. Beautiful, as usual. To write a well versed poem around a thought as small as 2 lines of an age old song, is a gift.
May I suggest something, try changing stanzas in your poems. It's easier to convey the rhyme and the flow of thoughts.

  27. Memories of the beautiful Meena Kumari and Pakejha came to my mind. Saru, I would put this way :

    blessed is the sand
    which kissed her soles
    and hugged her bare hand
settling down on her face as moles.
