White Stallions of My Dreams...

Ever cascading...Ever lasting,
River of desire hopelessly streams.
Galloping in day and night,
The white stallions of my dreams...
Skin deep abyss,
Hushes the surface needs.
Silently caressing on my bed tonight,
The white stallions of my dreams...
For many autumns and many springs,
Lived in the labyrinth it seems.
Walked sideways on alleys with me,
The white stallions of my dreams...
Bring me my freedom,
Rub the zest on all extremes.
Mounting high, I shall ride,
The white stallions of my dreams...
Ever cascading...Ever lasting,
River of desire shall now stream.
Riding high through all terrain,
The white stallions of my dreams...

This is one of my poems published in 'Rousing Cadence.'

  19. How brilliant of a metaphor is the white stallion for happy and postive dreams. And I envy the girl with the seren peaceful look on her face in that pic. No wonder, with such blinding rays of postive energy kind of dreams, one is bound to feel so gay and glowing like her.

Such beautiful words Saru. You beat yourself each time!

    1. Sorry, I didn't get you. If you said white stallions being the panacea for nightmares, then you are right. Else, please clarify. And thanks for reading:)

    2. See white stallion in association with dreams sounded like opposite of nightmare to me. White x Night. Stallion x Mare. So I wondered if you has that symbolism in mind.

  53. I had to read the poem twice.
It didn't really caught my attention while skimming over like your other poems containing strong words, usually love poems or socially sensitive.
But then i decided to take a closer, diligent, second look. And the poem is marvellous :) marvellous in that it doesn't need to take the most basic of human emotions (love/hatred/pain) or the most flagrant of social injustice to turn into a good poem. it takes the less identifiable (but much more nuanced, and real)emotions, and by the sheer power of words, turn it into something really good.

i guess that's what it means to be a good poet, doesn't it? ;)

    keep writing saru,
    mohit

    1. That's an encouraging comment Mohit. Actually the inspiration behind this poem is a ceramic white horse in which I store pins etc., I used to look at it and many a dreams the phrase, 'white stallions of my dreams' used to pop up in my mind. Hence the poem. Glad to liked it.

On being a good poet, I don't even call myself a poet. I write free verses and my only wish is to express and leave an imprint in the minds of readers...

      Thanks for a beautiful comment,
      Saru :)
