Wailing Woes

On her frail shoulders,
the threads of Pashmina talk.
Of a valley, of heaven,
of a moonlit night.
Demure, she froze
amidst the discordant noise,
Charred bodies around her,
her flesh and blood died.
On moonlit nights, hence
she walks barefoot on the snow,
Suffering within and out,
I can listen,
what her silence speaks out loud.
Deranged, Demented,
She drags her body around,
Unaware, Listless,
what she has lost can never be found.
I call her,
whenever she passes by me,
I have been piling up sorrows as debris.
Come! My child
Let me hear your pain,
Let me soothe your wounds,
Let me jostle your soul,
So you shed a tear.
I know your pain,
I have done all this myself,
And I have been there.

This poem narrates the sufferings of women who lost their families in Kashmir Valley.
*Disclaimer - Title is inspired by Sonnet 30 of Shakespeare.

  37. Very nicely and wisely you explained the pain, sorrow, grief of a women who lost her dear and near one in the valley. And I liked this "Let me hear your pain,
    Let me soothe your wounds,
    Let me jostle your soul,
    So you shed a tear."
Tears have the potential to heal any wound of the soul.
    Overall very wisely written:)

    2. Saru; some words Pashmina, Valley, Snow etc. were started to create a complete picture of the Kashmir and there was sort of plot created by you in some lines, which suddenly disappeared. Just a thought from the point of storyteller :))

  63. Let me hear your pain,
    Let me soothe your wounds,
    Let me jostle your soul,
    So you shed a tear.

Sukh baante ni badhta hai, dukh baatne se ghat'ta hai. No advice, no promise, sometimes all you need is someone to listen to you.

It takes a lot of courage to shed a tear, to accept the sense of loss which has dismantled your inner self.

I have done all this myself.
Why does he do so? I have heard this question many a times from atheists and I never have a second opinion to it and I end up beating around the bush.

Loved the poem from beginning to end :) Do read Sanhita's poem too if you haven't.

    1. That is true, at time we need a shoulder to lean on. In the poem, 'I have done all this myself' represents that the other lady has gone through all that in her life. She can understand and relate to the pain.

Glad you liked it. There's nothing more rewarding than someone appreciating your work. I read her poem too. It was soul stirring.

      Thanks for reading :)
